A Letter from Chris

We embody the dream of living big in small spaces.

The world we live in is slowly changing and the old thoughts of “bigger is better” doesn’t always ring true anymore, especially with this generation..

People want freedom, they don’t want to be chained to a desk working long hours to pay for that big mortgage, on that big house, that in some cases has too many rooms – some that will stay unused!

The old Aussie dream of bricks and mortar in the suburbs close to the CBD is no longer everyone’s sense of fulfillment and now, with the option to work from home, it’s possible to feel like you’re on vacation every day.

After the COVID lock downs, Aussies were forced to explore our own backyards and see the wonder on our own doorstep. It opened our eyes to the beauty of our states and territories. Holiday goers fell in love with the beauty that has been in our own backyard this whole time…sometimes just hours away!

In our own personal case, we fell in love with the beauty of the gorgeous place we call home, The Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island in South Australia.

On the flip side of the coin, house prices have skyrocketed and rent prices have doubled and are scarce, which makes the dream of owning your home or even putting a stable roof over your head unattainable and out of reach for some – and that’s where we come in!

I’ve followed and admired the tiny home movement for some years now. Being a builder for over 20 years, I’ve watched on as block sizes get increasingly smaller while townhouses and apartment blocks go up and up.

Tiny Homes have sparked people’s sense of adventure again, choosing beautiful locations to put their well-crafted and thoughtful little Homes and choosing open-air spaces over colorbond fences.

People are starting to change their way of thinking, deciding what is really necessary, and what is not. Choosing to downsize their footprint, being minimalistic in their possessions and trading it in for the fulfillment of nature, and living life itself without having to sacrifice the small luxuries that make a house a home.

The price tag? Well it’s very attractive too, with our homes starting at under $100,000 turn-key. The affordable cost can give you the financial freedom to find that beautiful piece of land to place your Tiny home on, or set up on mum and dad’s block while you save for future ventures, all with the knowledge that if it’s not your forever dream, you can easily sell it to someone else to enjoy, and not have to worry about losing that money you have invested.

Of course, deciding to have a Tiny Home to live in is only one option, they can also be used for Airbnb accommodation. Offer weekend stays for people to enjoy the experience and if done right, people can fetch up to $500 per night for the right Tiny House experience.

They can also be used for extra living spaces in your backyard or driveway, temporary housing, mobile home offices, food trucks, mobile salons, and much, much more!

We also offer complete off-grid alternatives, such as; Solar, composting toilets, grey water systems, and rainwater tanks – helping you save the environment while also saving money by avoiding expensive utility bills.

From singles to couples, investors, retirees, business owners, and families, we can offer you a Tiny home solution that can suit your lifestyle requirements.
Where we started

Our History

Aspire Carpentry was established in 2021, primarily focusing on residential builds. Chris, with over 20 years of experience in the building industry, has constructed houses of various sizes, ranging from residential granny flats and three-story houses to custom builds.

Our journey with Tiny Houses commenced when we acquired a small piece of paradise in Vivonne Bay, Kangaroo Island. We aimed to minimize our ecological footprint with the vision to preserve the natural beauty of the land, coexist with the local wildlife, and develop a unique, family-friendly retreat for ourselves and others to enjoy.

Who We Are

Meet The Team

The main power behind the operation, Chris is the man on the tools with the vision.

The interior decision maker, with the help of our in-house interior designer, Marlene (Clarissa's sister from Germany).

The bundle of energy in the group who loves showing off his toys, and spending time with his big brother — Buddy.

The camera-shy operator who's almost impossible to get a snap of. Loves watching from afar and trying avoid Teddy's brotherly antics.
